Melissa (Mel)

Melissa (Mel)

Head Technician, Supervisor

Melissa (Mel) is our head tech and supervisor of the doctors’ assistants and kennel staff. She has been a dedicated member of our team for over 16 years and helped put together and train our team of devoted assistants and kennel staff.

Among her many duties, Mel also oversees patient medical care, prepares and recovers surgical patients, performs most of our dental cleanings and lends educational support to our staff and clients.

Mel attended the WSU, studying Zoology. She also studied additional tech courses at the Cedar Valley College. She became a registered veterinary technician in 2002. She has worked in the veterinary field for over 30 years, specializing in small animal care. Her volunteer experience includes the Woodland Park Zoo, the AFLAR Animal Rescue and the Crista Nursing Home.

In her spare time, Mel enjoys raising and showing Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. Her animal menagerie also includes 5 rescued cats, 6 dogs, a 40 lb tortoise, Arabian horse, chickens, cockatoo and her latest rescue, a young Molly mule saved from Yakima Feed Lot. She has spent her life dedicated to helping animals and looks forward to many more years of serving the needs of our furry friends.

Katie

Veterinary Assistant

Katie was welcomed to NCVH in May of 2017. Her individuality, positivity and charm drew everyone in - staff and clients alike. Working hard or hardly working? You would never know the difference with Katie! She always has a smile on her face, is willing to help at a moment's notice and is good at what she does.

Katie (like most of us) has a group of fur-babies all her own: 5 cats - 2 of which she hand raised from the time they were 3 weeks old - 2 German Shepherds, 1 iguana and a TON of chickens...pretty sure she lost count.

She plans on attending school to become a Veterinary Technician and is interested in working with wildlife. She would also like to volunteer at a local wildlife sanctuary once her schooling is complete.

Sarah

Veterinary Assistant

Sarah joined NCVH as an assistant in 2021. She has been a foster parent for the shelter for well over 20 years, taking in hundreds of bottle baby kittens as well as other animals. Don't be surprised if you see her with a baby in hand!

She also enjoys spending time with her husband, three kids and small hobby farm. This farm is a conglomeration of dogs, cats, ducks, geese, guineas and chickens.

A little secret about Sarah, she is an AMAZING baker! Not only is she known for toting around kittens but is notorious for her delicious cakes!

Callie

Veterinary Assistant

Callie joined the NCVH family in March of 2020. She  worked hard as a kennel assistant maintaining hospital cleanliness and organization, as well as prep-work and aid to the technicians for upcoming surgeries and treatment procedures.  Callie has just recently switched to assisting.

Her positive attitude and attention to detail quickly made  her a necessity to the hospital. Callie would like to eventually look even further into a career as a Veterinary Technician.

Callie enjoys taking on new adventures, as well as spending  time with her two senior cats, or just relaxing at home with a new movie or television series.
