A railroad worker in Missoula MT found Montana under his porch in the middle of winter, cold and hungry. After a few months of searching, he rehomed Montana with me. Montana was aloof, quiet, and always looked angry/done with your crap, unless he was high on fresh catnip. I knew he wasn't angry though because his favorite thing was to throw his entire body down onto my arm to sleep at night, his back against my heart, his head under my chin. He chose to stay with me when I was being let go from many things, in a very hard period of my life. Since we found each other, we've been to volcanoes, calderas, alpine lakes, redwoods, rainforests, ocean beaches, fresh water springs, hot springs, even rode a bike or two, gone on walks around the block, and many weekend camping trips. We moved across 3 states, into many different homes, and finally found our happy place in Washington. It's weirdly fitting that Montana was found in winter time, and then he left in winter time. I wish that wherever he is, he has a warm pocket of sunshine always there to bask in, fresh water and catnip whenever he wants it, and all the love I feel and have ever felt for him helping him stay comfortable and painless. Montana, my dear Adventure kitty, I will hold you close forever. 💜💜Forehead kisses💜💜
